My Tree and Me Remakes

{It's way past my bedtime. I should be getting all the rest I can, but I can't. I don't sleep well when my hubby's out of town. I seem to lose all security. I don't eat as well, I don't get much done, and I don't sleep. The only advantage is I get to update my blog. It's crazy how much I need him. How I can hardly function in some areas without him. He really does keep me going. When I think about it he gives me a reason to do certain things. Even though I have kids, it's him that's my main source of energy. How do people do it alone?}

BUT that's not what I'm blogging about. I've recently been called to serve in the Young Women's presidency and loving it. Tonight was a personal progress night. We had been talking about genealogy and our heritage and such for a couple of Sundays now. I thought it would be nice to do something genealogy related and make a family tree. Sounds boring until you check this site out. I have several of these "trees" on my wish list.

I decided that three of these family trees were do-able. I thought they turned out pretty well.

It's not a great pic but what's going on in mind in attempt to put on paper and eventually on my wall. After Liam's wonderful classwork inspiration I finally decided how I wanted to make it my own and put on my wall. I decided to do individual canvases on the wall, going up my staircase in the foyer. At first, I thought it might be childish looking but changed my mind. Now I'm just waiting for my big fat check from ebates.com and I can buy the supplies. I'm excited!

Inspiration

I guess I'm just in the blogging mood!

Today I was inspired by Liam's classwork. I love the fun, playful yet modern contemporary feel it gives. Who would have thought children's classwork!?

I'm trying to decide...12 big squares attached with the letter S in color and then the boys initials in white or do individual ones with their first initial as the main letter with the other initials as the white squares? Hmmmm? 8x12 size? or bigger? once I figure it out I will be sure to post my results....oooh, I'm excited! Anyone else up for trying it out let me know how it goes.

Beautiful glass

I was talking to my friend Lynn who told me about this man Dale Chihuly. He is a glass art designer and I would say pretty brilliant. There is something about glass art that I just love. The colors for one, but to just be able to do such a thing with something so fragile. Wow! He currently has an exhibition at the Chattanooga's Hunter Museum of American Art and other places around the world. It would definitely be worth seeing. If you're in Chattanooga another great place to buy some beautiful blown glass ornaments is at the River Gallery in the Bluff View Art District...fun little area.

If you really want to go to the next level look at the jewelry. You will have to have some. I love my bracelet!

While we were in Alaska I came across some artwork that I fell in love with! I guess I'm a water color kind of girl. I'm finding I'm very attracted to most watercolor work. But mostly, I just love the colors and feeling that are portrayed in these artists pieces. Both artist are native Alaskans. I love that too!

Babara Lavallee is an illustrator for children's books. But she also captures such fun and happiness in her work. You will find these two pics framed and on my wall soon!

This work is by Rie Munoz. Loved her work! So much life. But most of all she paints many scenes of Juneau and Jarom and I walked this very area she's painted "Starr Hill" or 4th street. It looks just like that going straight up and stairs everywhere around the homes. I thought having this would be a fun memory of our trip to Alaska. Unfortunately, Jarom hated the picture and refused to buy it for me. I'm still working on that!
