13th Article of Faith

Today in Relief Society we were discussing missionary work, proclaiming the gospel, and why it's so important. In the discussion about why it's needed so badly, the discussion became a little sidetracked on how the world is so bad. IT can be depressing and sad to think about. And being the optimist (non-realistic) person that I am, I try not to think about those things. I realize problems do exist but what would my life be like if that was how I always viewed the world? So, then I got to thinking about the 13th Article of Faith...'If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things." When I normally here these words I think of seeking righteous things, good things. But today I thought, "these things I should seek in people and societies also." Look for the good and dwell on those things. Good does exist. The Lord is not asking me to think of all the bad things in the world and fix them but think of the good things and build upon it. Then proclaiming the gospel means that much more. Because my outlook on life is hopeful and bright, not gloomy or dim. How grateful I am for the gospel!
