Lemon-Lime Luncheon

I've kind of created a "bucket list" since we're moving.  This was one of them.
I'm always looking for an excuse to have some type of get-together/party.
One of my friends once said that she wished that she could have a "Laura" party.
That has a nice ring.
Her wish was my command.
I don't know that she really meant it, but I did it anyway.

This was my taste inspiration--Lemon Blueberry Bread or Blue Belles
marthastewart.com

She had it at my house one day and I think the two of us ate one loaf alone in one visit.  It is one of the best recipes I have ever had.

I knew she loved food, all things French (she is Canadian, eh), and she has a simple yet whimsical, chic style.  She's particular and detailed oriented and appreciates the fine details in simple things.
I needed simple beauty with a splash of color.
Luncheon was a given.
Lemon and limes I believe make everything better but when it comes to food it can be tricky.
When it came to color, green and yellow just can't be.
I think all colors should be done in threes.
I chose Rasberry.

Though I never actually got a picture with the table set with the food.  (So disappointing.   It really looked beautiful.)  I cleaned everything and reset it.  It's not the same but it's still a reminds me of what a beautiful table setting it turned out to be.  I was pleased.

Just imagine . . . almost pink, smoothie like drink in the small square glass;  whitish-green cilantro sauce in dipping glass and yellow, creamy poppyseed in the dipping glass beside

 Dessert dishes
My mother let me borrow this dishes.  I was so thrilled!  They are my great-grandmother's Depression glass.
My mother-in-law gave me the table cloth.  With the two it was perfect.

These were the seving trays for the skillet-grilled burritos.  Since there was a seating for nine, I did a mirror image of the table setting of the food so that we wouldn't have to pass anything around the table.  The salads were both in clear glass bowls so you could see the green spinach leaves.

Here's what was on the menu:
Skillet-Grilled Burritos w/ Creamy Jalepeno-Cilantro Sauce (it had lime in it)
Spinach Strawberry Salad with Mandarin Oranges, crumbled feta cheese and Poppyseed dressing
Strawberry Limade punch and water served with lemon and lime slices to the side (I was not crazy about the punch and it did not make enough for everyone.)
Key Lime Pie
Lemon Crinkle Cookies

For the game (it's a birthday, gotta have a game!)
We played Lucky Lemon 3.  My own little made up version of lottery tickets.  The lucky winner won a prize.
These were very easy to do, but my images were pretty dark and I had to put five coats of paint.  It still didn't fully cover the image.  I made the girls scratch fast.

I hope C loved it as much as I loved doing it for her.  Happy Birthday C!
